Pornography Facts
At the 2003 meeting of the American Academy of Matrimonial
Lawyers, a gathering of the nation’s divorce lawyers, attendees revealed that
58% of their divorces were a result of a spouse looking at excessive amounts of
pornography online.
Although no connection between legal porn viewing and
criminal behavior has ever been proven, police have seen a steady increase in
porn associated with crimes (Lt. Matt Bilodeau, spokesman for the Cache County
Sheriff's Department, Associated Press, 10/17/04).
There are 4.2 million pornographic websites, 420 million
pornographic web pages, and 68 million daily search engine requests.
70% of sexually transmitted infections in the porn industry
occur in females according to County of Los Angeles Public Health.
66% of porn performers have Herpes, a non-curable disease.
Effects of Children and Pornography
79% of youth unwanted exposure to pornography occurs in the
home (Online Victimization of Youth: Five Years Later, 2006).
Child pornography is one of the fastest growing businesses
online, and the content is becoming much worse. In 2008, Internet Watch
Foundation found 1,536 individual child abuse domains.
The largest group viewing online pornography is ages 12 to

Nine out of 10 children aged between eight and 16 have
viewed pornography on the Internet. In most cases, the sex sites were accessed
unintentionally when a child, often in the process of doing homework, used a
seemingly innocent sounding word to search for information or pictures. (London

Child-on-child sex abuse and rape are a growing phenomenon
in Britain, and there’s no reason to suggest that the statistics would be any
different for Canada or the United States. Over a three-year period
(2009-2012), 4,562 children/young teens (under the age of 18, and some as young
as five) committed 5,028 sexual offences against others under 18. (The

The pornography industry purposefully targets children
today; due to the severely addictive nature of pornography, if kids get hooked
on porn, they will be customers for life. Counselors have called addiction to
pornography the "crack cocaine" of sex addiction because the use of
the Internet to view pornography causes a rapid development of the addiction,
one that is more difficult to overcome than cocaine or heroin addiction.
Child Pornography
Child pornography has become a $3 billion annual industry
(Top Ten Reviews, 2005).
Of all known child abuse domains, 48 percent are housed in
the United States.
Child pornography grew exponentially between fiscal years 1996
and 2005 with a:

2325% increase in
arrests, locates & summons (68 to 1649)
According to a National Children's Homes report, the number
of Internet child pornography images has increased 1500% since 1988.
Approximately 20% of all Internet pornography involves children (National

UNICEF reports that across the world, there are over one
million children entering the sex trade every year and that approximately 30
million children have lost their childhood through sexual exploitation over the
past 30 years (Commercial sexual exploitation position statement. UNICEF UK.

Studies indicate that child prostitutes serve between two
and thirty clients per week, leading to a shocking estimated base of anywhere
between 100 to 1500 clients per year, per child. (Department of Justice, Child

As many as 600,000 Children run away every year in the US.
Within 48 hours of hitting the streets, one third of Teen runaways are lured
into the underground world of prostitution or pornography. (The National Center for Missing and

More babies and toddlers are appearing on the net and the
abuse is getting worse. It is more torturous and sadistic than it was before.
The typical age of children is between six and 12, but the profile is getting
younger (Prof. Max Taylor, Combating Pedophile Information Networks in Europe,
March 2003).
According to a National Children’s Homes report, the number

Human
Trafficking
From fiscal year 2001 through fiscal year 2005, the Civil Rights Division and United States Attorney's Offices filed 91 trafficking cases, a 405% increase over the number of trafficking cases filed from fiscal years 1996 through 2000.
